Day 3 of this blog, and I find myself really looking forward to my daily posts! Such a nice feeling to know that I have started something that I’ve been meaning to start for so long. Happy to be here!!
Thought of the day: I recently learned that the problem might not be so much that we are over-stressed… but more that we are under-rested.
As someone who constantly stresses about stressing (fun!), this has helped change my mindset massively.
It’s taught me that even if I am having a stressful day, I can find ways to recover / recoup throughout the day… that it’s not all doom and gloom. And, as I’ve learned, I cannot expect to be in fight or flight all damn day, and then get into bed and have a quality sleep.
Last night, I didn’t sleep so well as my husband came home late and I tend to stir until he gets home (not a complaint, as I love seeing him when he gets home), but I definitely felt myself needing some recovery today.
I worked from home, so took 30 minutes out of my day to do some NSDR (non-sleep deep rest) - there’s a 10 minute Spotify recording by
(here), and it’s a goodie! I do this on a loop (three times in a row), and by the end, I’ve fallen asleep for 5-10 minutes.10/10 times I get up feeling like a different person! Well-rested and clear-headed. Would recommend to anyone really! It may take a while to get used to the concept, so I would urge you to persevere. If I don’t have 30 minutes, even just the one session makes a difference! Three just means I get a little nap in at the end, which I find is an added bonus (particularly if I’m lacking / struggling with sleep).
NSDR aside, I am learning more about different ways to recover throughout the day - will keep you posted on what I find :)
(fun!) had me giggling 🤣🤣🤣
Good lord I need to get into that NSDR
